My Nana

Today we lost our sweet Nana. She's been such a cornerstone in our lives. She's been at all of our major events and it will be so strange to not have her with us anymore. But she is with the love of her life and at peace and for that I am truly grateful. I'm so glad we got the time we did with her over the years and for all the many memories she has blessed me with.

Trip to West Virginia

The day after Josh's blessing we received word that my sweet amazing grandfather passed away. So that following Friday, Katie Heather and I made the trip back to West Virginia for the funeral. We took a red eye out from SLC, to NYC then from NYC to Pittsburgh. It was a long trip, but the kids all did great! Josh slept through the whole trip for the most part.

It was so great to be back home at Nana's with all the family together. You never realize how much you miss people till you see them again. Mom got to have her all her kids together to help say "see you later" to Pop. The services were so sweet. My Pop was such a strong and giving man who influenced many lives in his little neck of the woods. After the services we gathered at the ward building to share fun and sweet memories of Pop. Josh's Baby Blessing

We had a wonderful day for Josh's baby blessing, although we did miss our family that couldn't make it. Before church we blessed Rocco at the house. Ricky did such a great job with the blessing, although I swear the minute that Ricky started to pronounce the blessing every baby in the chapel started to cry and so it was a little hard to hear the blessing.....Didn't they realize that I've waited years to hear my sweet child being blessed by his father? Nevertheless, Ricky did great he blessed Josh with Knowledge and Strength, to seek out the truth and live it. I love watching Ricky take care of Josh and raise him to be a strong and capable man. If Josh ends up being just like his father I won't mind at all. Ricky is an amazing man! Here are some pictures from the day.

My Garden

This is my little garden. It wasn't much this year but I gave it a shot. I have dill, basil, sage, salsa peppers, and squash that grew this year. The tomatoes and bell peppers got planted to late. I did lettuce too but already harvested and ate it....it was good.

These are the first two crooked neck squash that we harvested. We cut them up and sauteed them for Labor Day in a concoction that Heather came up with it consisted of Lemon Juice, Olive Oil, Basil (from the garden), garlic salt and pepper. It was oh so yummy!

I'm glad I did the garden, next year I'll be more on the ball and get it started sooner! FYI I LOVE my raised garden bed....I haven't had to pull weeds in this once this year!

Happy 2nd Anniversary!! and General update

Today is our 2nd anniversary! It's been a great 2 years. I love Ricky more and more each day. Watching him with Josh just melts my heart. He is such an amazing father! He loves to play and talk with Josh. Josh always smiles when Ricky comes into the room, I love it! Josh really is a mini Ricky, it's so much fun to watch them interact!

For our anniversary we are going to celebrate next weekend when Maria takes Josh for the night so we can go out to dinner and a movie and do a little clothes shopping, so I can finally put the maternity clothes away and get somethings that actually fits me. ha Maria is even being kind enough to watch Josh overnight so we can sleep in! I miss sleeping in!

Today we just hung out around the house and Ricky and I went outside while Josh was sleeping and played some catch. We are playing in a Co-Ed Softball League and I desperately need some practice throwing again. Strange thing is I feel like I'm better at softball now that I'm older then I ever was when I was younger. It feels good to be out playing and getting to play with Ricky is double the fun.....except when we lose and he gets really upset and frustrated ha. (which has been the last 2 games, but at least this last game I played well so he couldn't comment on my skills)

We had our family pictures taken a few weeks back so I'm going to throw those up in the next post.....but here is a picture from our engagements and then one from this year. :)

Katie and family are finally here!

Katie and Locke and family moved up here last week. Locke is starting his MBA program at BYU at the end of the month. I'm so excited to get to live by her again, and to get to see Armanie and Rocco more and for Josh to have cousins near by for at least the next couple of years. Here are some funny pictures from them moving in.

These crack me up, because it looks like Josh and Rocco are fighting and hitting each other but don't worry they aren't just good timing with the camera :)

Armanie thought it would be a cool thing to wear my nursing cover as a dress....and notice her feet in the picture with the boys....they were BLACK by the end of the night. So glad they are here and we get to play! Katie and I are playing in a Co-Ed Softball League, so we'll see how well we do, I'll remember to take pictures at the next game :)

Saturday night bath time

So Josh has decided for the last 3 weeks that naps on Saturdays are optional. Which makes for a very tired or wired baby by night time. Tonight he was fairly wired so I thought we'd give him his bath and then play a little in hopes that he would fall asleep. He was all smiles and a little laugh during the bath and then I got him out, put him in his robe and set him on the couch long enough to take his picture in his cute robe. Here are the pictures.

Mom and Heather's Visit

Mom and Heather were kind enough to come and stay with us for a week to help me out. Heather spent all week doing the laundry I do for work and Mom spent many hours entertaining Ella and Josh. Here are just a few snap shots of Ella and a funny video just for you Heather.

Ella spent most of the week trying to "swing" Josh in his swing....which means she tried to make him fall out of it. ha and kept trying to teach Josh the ways of the feet....every time we were in the car she'd have her foot hanging over her carseat and into his trying to get her toes in his mouth....luckily I was in the back seat with them to stop the "sharing".

The week after Josh was born our good friends Andrea and Collan blessed their baby girl Jane. So we attended their ward and afterwards had a luncheon at a nearby park. Jane is one of Josh's future play buddies. Poor guy all my friends have had girls so he's gonna have them to play with.

Funny thing....right as this last picture was being taken josh peed through his diaper and clothes and onto the blanket....good thing not on Jane's dress.....gotta love having a boy...he seems to pee out his diaper easily.

The nurse in this first picture was using the portable fetal monitor to monitor Josh during contractions. It was great not being hooked up to the monitors the entire time.

I'm glad Ricky was enjoying himself. ;) Seriously he was amazingly helpful through out the whole processes he was doing counter-pressure techniques with every contraction to combat the back labor.

Our baby is a week old!!

He doesn't cry for the most part, only when he's hungry or when he's getting his diaper changed. He loves his time with his daddy at night to snuggle and watch some TV. He's a great eater and we did cave and gave him a binkie. Grateful we did because now he doesn't want to be eating all the time! He is such an adorable little boy. Couldn't have asked for a better first child! Although he does like to pee mid diaper change. Hopefully that will change soon. ha

Introducing Joshua Ackley Hermosillo

Our sweet boy was born June 16th at 7:22pm. Weighing in at 7 lbs 3 oz and 19.5 inches long.

Here is his birth story. (read at your own risk I want to get everything written down before I forget it so it's long and sometimes graphic.)

I had been telling him since the beginning that he had to stay in at least June 16th. His due date was June 27th but AFLAC became effective on June 15th so we didn't care when he came as long as it was after the 15th. The past few Tuesdays and Thursdays my friend Rachelle has been coming over and helping me get some things done around the house and with the nursery since I was getting pretty tired. This Tuesday we just had to get my room cleared out to make room for his bassinet and get things a bit more organized, and get the nursery finalized and curtains hung. So we ran a few errands and jokingly I told her today's the 15th so park further away I wanna walk more and go into labor tonight, so she did. and I helped her with moving things around and was feeling just fine all day. That night I went to bed and slept till about midnight when Ricky came in to go to bed.

Right about midnight I started feeling contractions, but as I hadn't had any Braxton Hicks or any other symptoms I wasn't sure if I was in labor or not. So I started timing them and they were coming 5-6 min apart and lasting about 60-90 seconds. I fell back asleep in between contractions for an hour or so, but mainly I was just starting to freak out. I mean I didn't think he would really be listening to me about coming since I still had 11 days till my due date. Poor Ricky didn't sleep that night either since I was breathing so heavily with the contractions. This went on till about 8am when I called my Midwife Jessica and told her what was going on. She told me to keep going and when I felt ready come down to the office and she'd check me before I went to the hospital. I was afraid that I was going through all this and I'd go down to the hospital and they'd tell me I was at only a 1 or something and send me back home so I stayed home till about 11:45am I figured since this was my 1st pregnancy It'd take me at least 12 hours minimum and since my contractions were still 5-8 min apart I had time. So I took my time in the shower, ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and some orange juice and got ready. About 10am I passed my mucus plug then we left about 11:45am to go down to the hospital. As soon as we got into the car the contractions started coming every 2-3 minutes and holy cow going over bumps are loads of fun when in labor. ha We got to the Clinic and they told me since they were coming so close to just go to the hospital which was down the street. So we got there and got checked into Triage, changed into a gown and hopped up to be checked. Right before the nurse was going to check me I had a contraction and I felt a huge gush. The nurse went to examine me and said did your water just break? I said either that or I totally just peed on your table. ha So my water broke about 12:45pm. She said I was at a 5 and 90% so I was staying. ha So they put Ricky and I into room 11 and we started to settle in for what would be a long afternoon. The nurses, Becky and Michelle were so incredibly helpful. We had told them that we were planning on a natural drug free birth and that I didn't want to be IV hydrated or continuously monitor. I wanted to be able to move around and do what I felt to be most comfortable through this process. They were all over it helping me to do this. They kept telling Ricky and I how impressed they were with our control and ability to handle it with never having gone to any classes. ha They showed Ricky some different counter pressure techniques to use with me since I was having really frustrating back labor. He was absolutely AMAZING!! I can't even imagine having done this without him! I spent quite a bit of time in the jetted tub which made it so much nicer. I labored on the birthing ball too which was nice and I was able to rest in between contractions a bit, by this point I think it was like 4:30 and I was at a 7 or 8. I felt the need to eat something since I'd felt a bit nauseous for part of the afternoon so I ate a saltine cracker and almost immediately I started to throw up. It actually felt good to throw up, and it helped with the contractions too. ha I headed back to the tub for transition which seriously was RIDICULOUS!! In between contractions there really wasn't a break because the pressure started to become so much more intense. I stayed in the tub for what felt like and hour or more. When we got out I went back to the the table and we began the process of getting ready to push. Jessica my midwife I have to say was so great! She didn't leave us really at all the entire time. If Ricky needed a break from counter pressure she was there to step in. I was never left unattended through the whole process. Ricky's sister Maria got there just in time to help with the pushing. I was still in transition and ended up back on the table working towards getting rid of the last of the cervix. I ended up throwing up again which again was nice and Maria started laughing saying what was the deal with me and throwing up on my big days, since I threw up on my wedding day too.

Jessica had asked Ricky earlier in the day if he wanted to catch the baby and he said umm probably not. So when Maria got in Jessica asked her if she wanted to, she said Heck ya! So the plan was to have Maria catch him and Ricky would cut the cord. This last part I always thought wouldn't take that long maybe 30-45 min tops. I was so wrong! Because I had a tiny lip of cervix that kept coming back I ended up pushing for 1 1/2 hours! They had a mirror up for me to be able to see my progress and I ended up finding this frustrating, I would see his head start which was awesome to see but then between contractions he'd fall back a bit, which is normal and supposed to happen, but it still just frustrated me because I wanted to be done at one point in the processes I begged Jessica to just reach in there and pull him out already. By the time I started pushing it was like 6 or 6:15 and I was getting tired. But I never once asked for drugs. It just never dawned on me to ask or use it as an option. I was pretty proud of myself. But when I started pushing I began to question what the heck I was thinking. ha But I don't regret my decision. My contractions seemed to slow during the pushing phase, which again is normal, but that's when I wanted it to speed up so that I could be done and see him already. But it was a good thing so I could have time to rest and stretch and not tear. So finally about 7:20pm he crowned and his head popped out, oh my gosh a freaky feeling, it burned really, really, really bad, so much so that I didn't even see him come out because I was closing my eyes and covering them saying It Burns!! ha but as soon as I felt the release I opened my eyes to see Ria holding him and then she put him up to me and Holy COW! such an amazing feeling! He was absolutely beautiful! He had a HUGE cone head given the fact he was in the birth canal for 1 1/2 hours at least. But he was perfect! He didn't scream a whole bunch just kinda whimpered which we have figured out that's just what he does. He's not a huge crier just a chill lil boy. I did end up tearing a tiny bit, just level one so I had to get a few stitches. All in all it was a great experience and I'm glad we were able to do it. I really wanted to prove to myself that I could do it, and now that I have, next time I'll use the Epidural. haha

Ricky went with him down to the nursery and watched him get his bath and said it was heart breaking to see him get his heel prick done because he started to cry. And he didn't like the bath a whole lot, but when he got his head washed he quieted up and enjoyed it. Just like his daddy, Ricky loves to have his head scratched! Now that his swelling had gone down and his cone head is going away it is a total likeness of Ricky! He even weighed as much as Ricky did when he was born.

His first visitors were Aunt Ria of course then Grandma Jennifer and Grandpa Todd, and Aunt Andrea.

He slept great the first night sleeping all night. Yesterday we started the business of nursing. I'm happy to say it was tough at the beginning but he's definitely getting the hang of it.

We love him more and more every second! and feel so blessed to have him here healthy and happy and perfect! I'll post more pictures up when I find my cord :)

Final Baby Shower

Yesterday Maria and Suzie and the rest of my girlfriends put together such a great baby shower! We had all my my Utah friends over and had a little Luau to celebrate our little guy. They went all out with the theme and even made me dress up in a grass skirt and leis. I am so grateful for everyone who came to spoil our little guy. It was so great to see so many old friends and visit with them all. Our neighborhood is full of either new babies or pregnant women. I think we had 6 new babies here and at least 6 pregnant women at the shower. So much fun to see all the different stages....but not going to lie I'm just about ready for this guy to be here. He's been such a kind sweet boy already to me not giving me lots of complications or problems....but space is getting limited in my belly and I'm ready to have my body back....but I digress

I loved all the presents everyone so generously gave. My old Pampered Chef director Julie made him the most gorgeous afghan. It is so warm and snuggly and just beautiful. I was thoroughly in awe of her skills. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of it to include in this post, but I will get a picture of it and post it up. In the meantime here are the pictures enjoy.....oh yeah food=AMAZING!! Can you tell I've got a thing for food right now? pretty much everything revolves around food :)

Ackley Family Baby Shower

So back in April we had the Ackley family baby shower. My mother in law Jennifer and Ricky's aunts put it all together. It was so fun to have them all over to the house for some good food and they were so sweet to give our little boy such cute clothes and presents. Our Lil Guy's rag quilt

As many of you know I'm not crafty domestic. I'm more of a cooking domestic person. Where or why I got it in my head that I could make my baby's bedding I have no idea! But I did and my sweet friend Jenny got me the material to do a rag quilt as the baby's quilt for his crib. Jenny swears that rag quilts are fun and super easy! Jenny you and I need to talk ha. You must have the swing gene like my sister Katie does. Jenny's mom made the fitted sheet (thank you for that Susan, bunching and elastic scare me!) but anyways after the last week of cutting out material and batting I made some definite progress on the quilt. Here is everything laid out and pinned now I'm just working on sewing the x's on the square and sewing them together....I'm not a fan of sewing machines, the thread keeps coming un done, the tension seems to be screwed up and I swear I have to unpick a square 2 or 3 times before I get it right! good thing I've still got 10 weeks before this baby gets here.....I might just have it done by then! and to think I still need to do a bumper and dust ruffle.....he doesn't really need a dust ruffle does he?

Family Baby Shower

Yesterday I had a baby shower for Ricky's side of the family, thrown by my mother in law Jennifer and Ricky's Aunts. It was so much fun having them all over to the house, I'm a slacker and had never had any of the aunts over in the last two years sorry guys! Everyone in who lives in Utah County was able to come. So that means we had Jennifer, Aunt Denise, her daughter Sydney, my SIL Maria, Aunt Sarah and her daughter Lena, Becca and her daughter Brooke, Grandma Ackley, Grandma Gammon (Jennifer's Mother in Law), Aunt Jamie (Jennifer's Sister in Law) and Jamie's daughter Hannah. Our little guy pretty much got spoiled, he got 7 outfits, two packs of new born diapers courtesy of my MIL's beautiful diaper cake, a bouncer, changing table pad, receiving blankets, a beautiful baby blue afghan crocheted by my MIL, lots of stuff for bath time, i.e. towels, wash clothes, soap, shampoo, lotion, baby powder, a first aid/medicine kit, some booties and mittens. Ricky and I are so grateful to have such a wonderful and loving family who are just as excited as we are to be bringing this little guy into the world. I am ever so lucky to have married into such a great and amazing family! Thank you again ladies for coming and visiting oh and thank you Sarah and Becca for such YUMMY food! California Trip

The weekend before Easter I went home for a baby shower lovingly thrown by my BFF Tito, aka Crystal and my family. I loved going home! We had so much fun just hanging out and visiting with family and friends.

Friday we chilled at my mom's house and played in the pool with the girls.

These two girls play together, sometimes great, sometimes not so great. My favorite part of being with them was listening to Armanie say Holy Moly! and Ella say Hi! They are some of the cutest girls you'll ever meet.....Even if they are carbon copies of their Mothers. ;)

This is my mom's dog MooChee he loves to scavenger through your bag and find food....don't bother trying to take it away from him he's got a death grip....and that's why I call him lil ShiT (he's a ShiTzu)

Friday night we went out to dinner with all the family that was in town. It consisted of Nana and Pop, Mom and Gene, Sean and Stacey and their 2 boys, Katie and Armanie, Me and Heather and Ella. We went to Applebee's and had great food. We quickly realized though that this would probably be the last time we'd be able to go out to dinner as a family without having to rent a banquet room ha given that 3 husbands were missing and come October there will be 5 new additions bringing the total to 21 people and that's just too crazy for any of us to be able to comprehend. ha

I'm so grateful to you all for the love and support all of you have always shown towards me. I'm so glad I was able to spend time with all of you.

Sunday we had Easter dinner and an Easter Egg hunt at mom's house, it was so fun to see all the kids playing together and getting to visit for a bit. Thanks mom for the good food and the fun times. During the Easter Egg hunt Armanie gave us the slip and figured out a way to get into Nana and Pop's RV and when we found her she had climbed up onto their counter and was sitting there eating cookies.....guess the candy in the eggs weren't enough for her.

This is a shot of me and my sisters with all our pregnant bellies. Stacey is due this month with twin girls, Heather is due in October, I'm due end of June with our sweet boy, and Katie is due mid June with what we all believe to be a boy, but it's a surprise. :)

Monday I met up with some of my friends from high school for lunch. Pictures will come later, it was so nice to see all of them and they were kind enough to bring me presents as well. Thank you very much you guys it was so much fun to sit around and visit for hours. and the presents were adorable! I can't wait to get our baby here and dress him in all the cute clothes!!!

By the time my flight left I was ready to come home to my hubby and hang out with him. The flight home was pretty uneventful until we started our decent into Salt Lake, it was at that point our little boy decided to climb up into my ribs and stay for the remainder of the flight. I got off the plane and made my way through the entire terminal with my carry on bag and purse, with basically one functioning lung since it felt like he was sitting on my right lung. ha by the time I got to baggage claim I was tired and winded, Ricky was there to pick me up and he started laughing at me because he thought I was so out of shape being winded. I told him I would have been fine if his son would have decided to climb back out of my rib cage!

23 week check up

Today I had our 23 week check up and everything looks great! I have gained another 7 lbs bring the total to 12 lbs. :) Our little guy has a great heart rate of 150 and doesn't care for the Doppler much I don't think since he kicked it mid count so she had to do it over again. haha my belly is measuring 23 cm which is right on for normal. Next month I go in for my glucose test and they'll do another ultrasound to see if my placenta has moved up. Let's all pray that it has I would rather not have to deal with placenta previa and lose the opportunity to deliver our guy naturally.

In other fun baby news Ricky was playing a video game this weekend that had funky techno music to it. Our little guy LOVED it he was dancing like crazy you could actually see my belly moving to the music. When Ricky would pause the game he'd stop dancing and when the music resumed so would he it was hilarious! He wakes me up every so often at night from his kicks but other then that I couldn't ask for a better baby. I'm just praying that he is this kind to his mother once he's here.

We've finished our baby registries at Target and Babies R Us and are going to start working on the nursery in the coming weeks. My friend Kelsey found the fabric for the bedding at Wal-Mart so I've gotta go buy it so I can start making the bumper and dust ruffle. I'm really so excited to meet this little guy!

I'm going to California in less then 4 weeks to have a girls weekend and a baby shower so that's the next thing to look forward to baby wise.

HERE HE IS!!!

Sorry it's a longer video, watch what you want of it, I could watch it all day! He is a strong healthy little boy. He is weighing in at 9 oz, everything is looking great and normal. He is fidgety, which I'm starting to feel, but was very cooperative. I'll post the other video we have as soon as it uploads. I'm just amazed at how clear it all came through. We were able to see his legs and toes and hands and fingers and nose and he even has a little chubby belly! Love him to pieces already!!

As for me everything was looking good I've gained 4lbs in the last month so a total of 5 lbs. The placenta is looking a little low and back in my uterus, not blocking the cervix at all but still a little lower then they would like so next month they'll do another ultrasound to make sure that it has moved back more so it won't be a problem during deliver. They also said I have a fibrosis growing in my uterus, but said it was fairly normal and not very big so it's not anything to worry about, but they will monitor it since it can grow along with the baby and just make me feel bigger then what I would be with out it. And after the baby is born if it doesn't go away on its own I can have it removed.

So there you go! We are so happy and excited to be having this little boy join our family! Now we've got to decide on a name and theme for the bedroom and all the other fun boy stuff! Can't wait!

I got this from my boss at work and thought I'd share it each month.

It's a new year and a new opportunity to prepare your home with a one-year supply of food for only about $5.00 a week for two people! If you've always wanted to get your food storage under control, then this is a great way to do this over time and in a very simple manner. Each month we will be printing the weekly purchases.

JANUARY

Week 1: 2 cans tuna fish, 2 containers salt, 1 lb yeast
Week 2: 5 boxes macaroni and cheese, 4 cans tomato soup
Week 3: 3 cans mushroom soup, 2 1/2 lbs peanut butter
Week 4: 1 bottle vitamins

ONE YEAR SUPPLY FOR $5.00 A WEEK FOR 2 PEOPLE

Each week take $5.00 and then buy the specified item for that week. Remember that some weeks will not use all of the $5.00 and some weeks will use more then $5.00. Plan to set aside $5.00 each week regardless. There are also a few weeks you will have nothing to buy, but set aside the money for those weeks as well. by the end of the 52 weeks you will have 700 lbs of wheat, 240 lbs of sugar, 40 lbs of powdered milk, 13 lbs of salt, 10 lbs of honey, 5 lbs of peanut butter, 45 cans of tomato soup, 32 cans of mushroom soup, 15 cans of tuna fish, 10 boxes of macaroni and cheese, 500 aspirin, 730 multiple vitamins, 6 lbs of dried yeast and 6 lbs of shortening. This should sustain 2 people for 1 year.

* I personally substituted spaghetti for the macaroni and cheese since ricky prefers that over mac and cheese, and I'll do flour instead of wheat since I don't have a grinder and don't really know how to use wheat. Yes I know I need to be better about those things.

Baby Name Help

Okay here's the deal. I've been wanting to discuss baby names with Ricky from the day we found out we were expecting. But he never felt the need to discuss it till we knew what we were having. I've still been thinking up names but I'm completely stumped when it comes to boy names, I've got a few ideas for girls, although my number one pick for a girl, PIPER, has been completely and totally shot down by Ricky. So I'm asking you guys for suggestions, what are some of your favorite boy and girl names? I feel like I need to start a list either way, and then next Monday as long as the baby is being cooperative we'll know which list to continue with. So please suggest away!!

Another birthday has come and gone for my sweet husband! He turned 26 on Friday. Ricky is not a big fan of celebrating his birthday, but he puts up with my desire to celebrate it so I didn't do anything huge this year, no party, no cake, no real celebration.

We did go out to eat which we don't do too often anymore since we are saving for the baby. My sister in law was telling me how Texas Roadhouse was really good and we should go there. So I called ahead at 5:50 to get added to the call ahead list, they told us the wait would be 110 minutes so we got down to the restaurant at 7:50 figuring they would be behind a bit. Holy cow the place was packed and I don't think the hostesses knew what they were doing all that much because they flat out forgot about us and 40 minutes later, after me going up to the stand twice to double check the wait, each time telling me it would only be 5-10 minutes tops did they finally seat us and give us a free appetizer. After about 20 minutes of waiting to be seated Ricky just wanted to go, but I was being a stubborn pregnant woman who wanted it to be a nice dinner out. Just once I want something I plan to go the right way, is that too much to ask? Okay I digress. We got seated and ordered but I've gotta be honest, I wasn't that impressed. I'm pretty sure I could make a steak and ribs just as good if not better then they did. The parking was horrible the restaurant was way too loud and overall not the best. Don't think we'll be going there ever again. Sorry honey!!

But I love you more then you will know (although I'm pretty sure you'll never read this). You have been such a huge support to me and I love you for that. I can't wait to watch you be a daddy to this little bean. I'm so excited to enter this new phase in our lives and watch you get to be a kid all over again with our children. They really will have the best dad any kid could hope for! Thank you for putting up with my craziness, my emotional break downs and my incessant questions even when they drive you nuts :)

Belly Pictures!!!

Here you go Mom and Dad and the rest of the fam :) As you can see I am showing a bit, but not a ton yet.

Some things I'm experiencing for better or worse lately:

I may or may not have felt the baby move, or rather poke me. I haven't felt it since (it was a week ago) but I'm sure it is just the beginnings of what will be a poking war between Ricky and the little bean.

I eat smaller meals every 2 hours or so. Ricky thinks it's funny how I can take a couple bits and be full then STARVING an hour or two later.

I'm not a fan of needing to go to the bathroom more....but this is mainly because after I go it feels like my uterus has sunk down and squished whatever is below it and it's hard to stand up straight for a minute or so. (Sorry it's my blog I'm writing what I want. haha)

I've been working on laying on my sides more, but this is just awkward, one night I moved from my left side to the right and I swear it felt like the baby reached out grabbed my uterus and was like "nope you aren't laying that way I don't like it", so I had to move back to my left side and all was well again.

My ligaments are shifting for sure, the other night my hip was hurting so bad I couldn't lay on my left side because it was just throbbing, it was probably because I ran around all day shopping and things and over did it.

I've got my energy back for the most part, so my house is slowly coming back into shape which is good, because it really was looking like a war zone....ask anyone who's dared to venture over haha.

I think that is about it...still no stretch marks, no recent overwhelming urges although I am enormously grateful to In N Out for putting in a place 1 mile from my work and directly on my way home. This child will learn to love it from the womb. haha

I do need to give a huge thank you to my neighbors and friends, they have really out done themselves with their kindness and generosity. At this point we have our crib, changing table/dresser/hutch (which is still in Cali until one of my wonderful family or friends can bring it up to me), rocking chair, car seat, stroller, pack n play, tub, and if this bean turns out to be a girl we'll have the crib bedding and 3 boxes full of clothes, all so kindly given to us by our friends. We are so so grateful to you guys you can't even imagine, you have saved us so much!!!

Monthly Update

Went to see the midwives today and happy to report that all is well with our little jumping bean (who isn't a bean really anymore more like a softball but we like to call it the little bean). The bean is right on track and so am I. I weighed in last month at 126.8 lbs and this month I'm 127 lbs. So haven't gained much at all but I'm good with that. I'd rather gain the weight more toward the end if I've gotta gain. I just feel gaining it now means I'm pigging out way more then I should. I do eat more then I used to but it's more just smaller meals more often. So far I've been craving milk...first 12 weeks couldn't get enough of it drank it almost as much as water...Also mint chocolate chip ice cream...which reminds me I'm out of that better go stock up tomorrow....I like pickles but don't crave them just like them...

The other day I had a ridiculous craving for Taco Bell. I haven't liked Taco Bell much over the last 10 years but it was overwhelming the need for a Taco Supreme. So I went and waited in the ridiculous line at the Taco Bell drive through and the guy who was at the window made me laugh because he saw my last name and told me he was from Hermosillo Mexico and all about how awesome the place was and how cool it was that that was my last name. I've never had a craving that bad but it was completely satisfied which felt wonderful!

My next appointment is on February 1st. We'll find out what this little one is then. We are so excited to find out. I hope this month goes by quickly.

I also decided that I'm going to have a baby shower in California on March 27th. So if you are going to be in Cali and would like to attend make sure to email me your address so I can get you an invitation. I'd love to see you since I don't get home much anymore, and when I do I never get time to see everyone.

I think this wraps up what's going on lately with the little one. I have had lots of gurgling lately, but no concrete baby movements...way excited for that day to come too. :)

Baby # 1 To be delivered Next June

Yes now don't you all go and faint....it is true. Ricky and I are expecting our first little one approximately June 28th, 2010. My Nana's Birthday, so if he/she came that day how happy would she be. haha But I'm feeling great. 13 weeks down. I haven't had any real sickness (other then the good old cold's that keep going around which I seem much more susceptible to now then ever before) The only side effects seem to be tiredness and especially at night....I love my husband dearly, but when he comes into bed at 11:30 at night (after I've been asleep since 9:30) I CANNOT be held responsible for my actions....NEVER WAKE A SLEEPING PREGNANT WOMAN!! That's all I can say about that. ha

The clothes are starting to fit tighter. (Thank you Heather for your generous donation to my maternity wardrobe. They will and do come in handy)But over all we feel this baby is a HUGE blessing in our lives and feel that the mild discomforts I've had thus far is in a small way Heavenly Father blessing me for being so patient all these years for children to be entrusted into my care.

We really couldn't be happier about this baby. I guess this means I'll have to be better about updating the blog....now to just get my camera fixed so we can take pictures!

Sunday Rambling

Not a ton going on today, but I do have some good things to report. First two weeks ago we were asked to say the prayers in Sacrament Meeting. For those that know me know it's not a big deal for me to have to talk or pray in public, for those that know Ricky probably know that panic struck immediately. He cracks me up, first thing he said was "Why do you hate me? Are you trying to kill me?" Then last Saturday Jake called and said they were going to push back the prayer a week as there was a mission farewell. I told Ricky and he said "Good I get to live for another week."

So this morning came and I kid you not, for some odd reason when he got out of bed he totally started getting light headed, broke out in a sweat and couldn't stand for any length of time. I totally thought he was just trying to get out of saying the prayer. So he laid in bed for a bit. But I couldn't believe how nervous he felt. But he got ready and we went to church. Poor guy had to sit through the entire Sacrament meeting before he said the closing prayer. His hands were so clammy and he was SWEATING! But he did a great job! I love my husband.

After Sacrament Meeting we were asked to meet with the Bishop. Ricky again started panicking thinking he was getting a calling. But the Bishop was just checking in with us about our Sealing and what still needed to be done. So we will be putting in the paperwork within the next month or so hopefully for the First Presidency to approve the Sealing Cancellation and that way everything will be in order for our Sealing in August. YAY for that!

So those that need to plan for time off to travel up for the Sealing, we are planning it for August 22nd which is a Saturday. Please keep us in your prayers that the cancellation gets approved in time.

Happy Birthday Hubby!!!

So technically I'm 2 hours early, but tomorrow is Ricky's 25th Birthday!! I'm so excited for him to be 25 cuz honestly saying my husband is 25 and I'm 29 doesn't sound so bad. ha ha. I thought I'd give you just a few reasons why I love this man.

1) He is amazing when I'm having a bad day to cheer me up, even if his day was way worse.

2) He tries so hard to be a good husband, and it makes me want to try even harder to be a good wife.

3) He puts up with my hormonal birth control induced mood swings.

4) He is so adorable around all the nieces and nephews. He's going to make a wonderful father one day.

5) He is one of the smartest men I know. If he doesn't know what he is doing he'll keep at it until he does.

6) He is the world's BEST Snuggler. Don't tell him I told you guys this but his nickname is snuggle monster. My favorite is when he doesn't say anything, he just nudges me with his head to let me know he wants his head scratched. The best is when him and Kiki are fighting over my lap and they both do the nudge to be scratched.

7) He tells me he loves me often throughout the day, and I love saying it back.

8) He does the dishes and sweeps the floor, two of the things I hate to do most.

9) He laughs at almost everything. He loves to laugh.

10) and Finally. I love him because he agreed to marry me and love me forever. No matter what I do I know that he is always by my side and I'm by his. We are truly partners in everything we do. I love knowing I can go to him with a question and he will give my an honest answer..not just the answer I want to hear. He knows how to help me rationalize my usually irrational thoughts and emotions. I am the luckiest ever.

Catch up

Ok sorry for taking so long, but life has been exhausting. Thanksgiving was nice and quiet and then the first of the December came and it feels like I haven't stopped running. As of Dec 1st I moved out to our American Fork Clinic full time and started working with them to become an independent PT clinic from the rest of Intermountain. It has been an amazing and challenging experience. I've been working pretty much 8-6 at the office most days and then coming home and working more. We've been re-doing most of the paperwork and processes to get ready for Jan 1. I'm glad to say we've got the clinic set up and going strong. There are still some bugs to work out but we are having such a great time figuring it all out. It feels so good to be apart of this clinic. I've always wanted to feel more ownership in a clinic and not just being a gopher or gal friday type. I definitely feel a great fit with this office.

So in between all of this we managed to squeeze in a trip to California to see Heather's new baby Ella Rebekah and spend Christmas with the family. I'm sorry I don't have pictures I finally found my connector cord, but now I lost my camera. I know I'm so scatterbrained and Ricky laughs at me all the time because I can be so forgetful. But anyways....Cali was nice and relaxing. Ella is perfect, Armanie is a riot and Blake and Ethan love to play with their new Uncle Ricky so much!!! We had a great time at Sean's playing Boys against Girls RockBand 2. And I'll just through it out there. GIRLS KICKED THE GUYS BUTTS!!! Sean and Michael thought they would show off and play expert. We girls new what to do and played it safe on Medium and Hard, it paid off and we won. haha. But it was so nice to hang out with the Sibs, it had been too long and I love that my Husband gets along so well with everyone in the Family. But who wouldn't get along with Ricky ;)

I got a new calling!

So after we missed a few weeks of church due to house sitting down in Provo, we made it back to church today. And wouldn't you know it right after Sacrament Meeting Jake Camp (ward executive secretary) made a b-line for Ricky and I. I've come to learn that it is never a good thing for Jake to make a b-line for you. The smart thing to do is run and run fast. haha. No I'm kidding, we all love Jake, he keeps the ward organized ;) Well anyways he asked if we could meet with a member of the Bishopric right then. We said sure and went and met with Brother Clegg. Ricky came in with me like a good husband supporting his wife. I figured a calling was coming, and yep Bob extended me the calling of being on the Enrichment Committee. Of course I immediately said yes. I love being in Enrichment, and one of my really good friends and Visiting teacher Lindsey is the Enrichment leader, so heck ya I'll be on the committee. So we were finishing up and Bob asked Ricky if he had a calling yet. Extremely hesitant to answer Ricky quietly said no. and so of course Bob said they'd have to work on that one right away. Haha, as we were leaving Ricky said "That's what I get for being a supportive spouse? See if that happens again."

All in fun as always. Can I just tell you guys I truly did marry an amazing man. Regardless of what calling he gets he will do it and do it to the best of his abilities. He isn't always comfortable getting involved, but once he gets to know people he truly does amazing things.

I went and saw Twilight last night with some girlfriends. (Jodie if your reading this don't be mad!! I'll still go see it with you when you get back home) I know it seems to be getting mixed responses, but for what it's worth it was a good movie, and I'll probably end up going to see it again tomorrow night with Maria and in a few weeks with Jodie. But anyways I heard people last night coming out of the theater complaining that they don't have an "Edward". Well I can happily report that I've got someone BETTER than an "Edward". He makes me laugh harder than any man ever has (I have to specify man, because Katie and Heather make me laugh just as hard as he does) He is so supportive with what ever I want or need to do. He never raises his voice in anger. He always helps me calm down and rationally think things through. He deals with my mood swings like a pro (I'm not saying I have horrible mood swings, just the normal ones). He loves me unconditionally and takes time to just sit on the couch and cuddle with me after work. He's my best friend and I'm eternally grateful to have him in my life.

Ok that's enough of that mushiness. Anyways life is good here in Utah. I miss all you guys that are living away, but I'll see all the family in December, and can't wait to see little Ella and get to see E and B and A. Should we just start calling them A BEE for the grandkids? Dang I'm so smart!!! I amaze myself.

Who eats more? Definitely Ricky. He can eat a whole pound of pasta by himself.

1. I cry at t.v. and movies way too easily. I cry at pretty much every series finale. Growing Pains balled, Cosby show balled, 90210 balled, Friends balled for at least 2 days every time I thought about it. PS I Love You I seriously soaked Ricky's shirt, he thought I was crazy, it was uncontrollable sobs red swollen eyes and runny nose that wouldn't stop. It was an AWESOME movie.

2. I'm OCD about stupid stuff like having my DVD's arranged alphabetically, and I separate out the Disney/Kid movies from the other movies. I love to alphabetize or put things in chronological order and file. It drives me nuts to have charts at work not in proper order. But I'm the messiest person in pretty much every other aspect of my life.

3. I have to sleep with the fan on or during the winter when it is too cold I have a white noise machine. I can't sleep in silence. But I do love being bundled up in my blanket and have the cold fan blowing on my face. I have Carolee Biehn to blame for this habit. She had a fan at a sleep over once and I've had one ever since. Good thing Ricky has the same habit as I do :)

4. One of my best friends I've had since I was 1 1/2. Her mom and my mom were best friends and we've been friends ever since. So we've been friends for 29 years, and usually don't go more than a week or so without talking. We've been there for almost every major event in our lives, and I don't see this friendship ending anytime soon. :)

5. I can't start a game of spider solitaire, free cell or regular solitaire and leave it until I win a game. It's stupid I know but I have to beat at least one game before I can walk away from it. I would never be good in Vegas, cuz I would lose tons of money because of this habit. I can't leave a nickle or penny slot until I've won either.

6. I love to have dinner parties. I love to be mothering and taking care of people. I hate to the stress of putting it all together, but I love having everyone over. I'm getting pretty good and managing my time to have everything ready in time without having half the meal cold. I just with I had a bigger kitchen and two ovens :) I love to cook and love kitchen gadgets, they over run my kitchen. I guess that's why I sell Pampered Chef :)

7. I love Star Wars. I can watch any of the 6 movies at any given time. When I was little I wanted to be Leia and I always thought Luke was so good looking (what was I thinking!) I have bought the Lego Star Wars video games and I really really really want the Lego Millennium Falcon. 3,000 pieces!!! What is better than Star Wars and Legos? I'm lucky though because I married a Star Wars geek who actually listens to the audio books on tape, He's even got me listening to them too. (don't laugh they are good!!) We even record the new Star Wars Clone Wars cartoon and watch it every Friday night. It's our cheap date night!

Update

Okay stop nagging me about not updating already. There just isn't a whole lot to update with. Life is good we are good. Just been busy with work and spending time with each other. I started back with Pampered Chef last week and had a great show with Ricky's Mom, Jennifer. It was great to be back into the swing of things. I love doing my Pampered Chef shows, making food and chatting things up with great people, so if anyone is interested in hosting a show let me know. No better way to earn fun free things for your kitchen.

Okay now I'm off that plug. Ricky and I are in the process of re-financing the house to finalize all of my past life once and for all. Things are going pretty smoothly. My credit survived the divorce nicely which I was pleasantly pleased about. We are just waiting on the appraisal to be done, so please keep us in your prayers that all goes well and we come through this whole economic mess on the plus side.

Ricky has been working really hard at work. And coming home exhausted. I'm trying to be the good wife with meals and keeping house. It's great to be a wife! I absolutely love my husband and can't believe how much he makes me laugh everyday. (side note just now he got excited about his video game, knocked over his cup of water all over some of my Pampered Chef paperwork and tried really hard to get it cleaned up before I got upstairs to see what the shrieking was all about...typical night in our house. haha) I'm going to have to child proof my house before we ever have kids, All the breakable things are getting put up higher. ;)

But I have to tell you I really am married to the best guy in the world. Sunday we got home from church and I made us some lunch, then I fell asleep on the couch to take a little nap, while I was napping he cleaned up the entire kitchen. The little things he does everyday makes me smile and I am so grateful to have him in my life.

Last night we had my "Lingerie Bridal Shower" and I have to say it was fabulous!!! Maria, Jen, Rachelle and Laura did an amazing job putting everything together. The decorations were cute and Laura did an awesome job with all the food. Years of friendship with Laura has been well worth it. We had a great turn out and lots of fun. I could not believe how great all the gifts were. They were so creative and way sexy. I'm sure Ricky will be pleased with all the purchases ;) But I'll tell you my two favorite parts of the evening were one to see the video answers Ricky gave to all these questions. If it's not too large of a file I'll upload it because it is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. He LIED!! With a few of the questions, knowing that I'd have to jam gum in my mouth for every wrong question. For the record I gave correct answers to the best of my ability....Ricky just likes to come up with fun stories to tell whether they are true or not. But watching the video made me miss him and his laugh even more. He left yesterday for Mexico till Sunday with Jer and Bryce and some other guys to go deep sea fishing. :(

My second favorite part of the evening was when I opened Sara's (Ricky's aunt) present. She TOTALLY BOUGHT ME MY JESSICA SIMPSON RED PEEP TOE 4 1/2" HEELS!!!!! It was like the 3rd present I opened and I literally almost started crying (I'm not far from tears much these days. Stupid Birth Control Pills!!) I think I even said okay I'm done I don't need anymore presents I'm good! You'll see the pictures of them in the next slide show. They are stunning and they look SOOOOO good under my dress!!! The girls wanted me to try on my dress after the shower was done and I had to put the shoes with them. It is PERFECT!!! After the shower ended and we were cleaning up we decided to layout all my outfits to see how may I got and how we could mix and match them. I ended with up 14 outfits not including the mixing and matching. I'm so excited!! But just as we got all the outfits layed out in the front room we got a knock at the door and It was Bill and Denise's BISHOP!! I'm pretty sure I was bright red and felt bad for the guy walking into a room full of girls in their 20's and 30's playing with lingerie! He came in and went to the other room to talk to Bill and when he left he went out through the garage door. We were laughing so hard!

All in All it was a great evening full of good fun and friends. Thank you again to everyone who came and for all the great gifts. I'd say I'll tell you if Ricky ends up liking them...but that's pretty much a given, He's an Ackley after all ;)

Can I just tell you how much I am appreciating having Andrea as a friend!! She has been the official/unofficial Wedding Planner and has been amazing!!! Between her and Maria I have had to worry about very little!! And Andrea again comes through for me! She found the table runners for $1.00 a piece!!! and Tableclothes for $2.50! That seems much more reasonable and do able for me! Maria and I went to place after place looking at different options ready to pull our hair out, and Andrea gets online this morning and within a few hours has everything figured out! Really can't say how much I love and appreciate all her help with everything!!! After we secure the tableclothes everything is READY!!!!!

Invites are being printed and assembled this week. Dress fitting is tomorrow (lets all say a silent prayer that I can fit into it after trying it on for the first time 3 months ago.) It feels so good to have the bulk of everything done and paid for.

Ricky is handling all of the plans very well for the most part, but I know he is relieved that things have turned out to be less expensive for the most part then we were planning. The only things we have left to pay for are the wedding day pictures and the airfare to go to Cabo (again silent prayer that the prices will drop so we don't have to change plans.)

A little Help!!

Okay so Maria and I went around today looking at fabric and I'm getting rather sad about the cost of things. I know weddings aren't cheap, but Ricky and I really are on a tight budget for this shindig we are putting together. We were looking today for white tablecloths and black table runners. We could rent the table clothes but when the tables themselves are only costing us 6.25 a piece it seems like highway robbery to pay 8.50 a piece for the table cloth. So I'm going to go the cheap route and ask any and all of you if you have any white round table clothes approx 70 inches that you would be willing to let me borrow. Even my California friends. My mom will be coming up with my sister and she could bring them. I know I'm tacky and cheap for even asking, but if you find it in your heart to allow us to use them I would greatly appreciate it. We need 12 of them.

Other news we've got the tables and chairs reserved, the flowers figured out, the chocolate fountains located and my dress paid for and figured out which Tux Ricky wants to wear. Oh and engagement pictures are done, wedding invitations all ready to be printed and then assembled Monday night. They should go out to everyone in the next week and a half.

So we found this AMAZING pair of Red Jessica Simposn Neona Peep Toe Pumps from Macys (more like ankle breaking stilletos then pumps) that were going to be PERFECT!!!! But 1) they are $79.00 very sad day, and 2) for some reason I can't get the picture to upload for you to see. So Rachelle and I found these shoes at Payless for $19.99. They aren't my absolute favorite, but they are cute nonetheless

If anyone hears of a shoe sale going on at Macy's or knows anyone who works there that can pull in a favor I would love you forever. I want to get that pair from Macys and wear them underneath my wedding dress. Wouldn't that look as Katie loves to use the term "Stellar"?

Have I told you how much I'm loving going shopping lately with my various bridesmaids. They've all been so helpful in one way or another. I really do have the best friends!!!

Since my baby sister is going to be well into her pregnancy by the time the wedding comes we decided to get her a white Maternity top. My friend Laura and I went shopping today and we found this top. I think it will go perfectly. We also found the Banana Republic tops on sale for only 36.99. Way better then the $56 orignially!!! We also found the red necklaces to go with the outfits, so I would say that was a productive day of shopping!!

Okay since I've been asked to start my own blog here it is. Life is very exciting right now. Planning a wedding is so much fun, but at the same time sooo much stress. It was much easier 10 years ago because my parents paid for almost everything. This time round not so much. But Ricky and I are having so much fun putting everything together. Yesterday I was over at his office talking with his sister Maria and her best friend Andrea. We were going over all the wedding details, when in walked Grayson, who I SWEAR! should start his own wedding planning business. This man has a million and one ideas on everything weddings from the engagement ring, to the proposal, to receptions and centerpieces, even honeymoons. He has been such a big help to Ricky with picking out the engagement ring and planning the honeymoon. But anyways, he came in and we were talking about what all needed to be done to the backyard to get it ready for the wedding. He said we should check out his in-laws backyard, he said it is gorgeous and well maintained and they love having people throw their receptions in the backyard. So we all hopped into Grayson's truck and went over to his in-laws. And this is what we saw.

Isn't it perfect?? It is going to be amazing I'm so excited...and it saves us about $700, so even better. I'll keep you posted as we decided on more thing.
